Water Vending: Treatment vs Dispensing Scope

Separate water treatment from dispensing when comparing equipment, source-water assessment, metering, output evidence and operating work.

Define the incoming water and promised output

Describe the source water and what the operator intends to dispense. Distinguish equipment that meters an already suitable supply from a proposal that includes treatment. Record what information about the incoming water is available and who is responsible for assessing it.

A dispensing cabinet or a filter shown in a photograph does not establish that a treatment process meets the project’s output requirements.

Draw the supply boundary before comparing offers

Ask each supplier to identify included connections, treatment stages where proposed, storage, metering and dispensing components. Mark equipment or site work supplied by another party. Record the exact configuration and the documents describing its intended use.

Keep source assessment, treatment design and dispensing performance as separate decisions. A demonstrated volume delivery is not evidence of water quality, and a water report does not by itself verify the installed dispenser.

Specify the evidence each responsibility needs

Agree who arranges appropriate source and output assessment, installation review and any destination-specific approvals. Ask for the relevant model documentation and identify which proposed treatment or measurement claims still lack evidence. Do not use this comparison as a substitute for specialist review.

Request an agreed demonstration of metering and relevant fault handling. Record conditions and observations without inventing an acceptable accuracy or quality threshold.

Compare the operating commitment

Identify who handles consumables, cleaning, records, service visits and a stop-supply decision. For a treatment proposal, make dependencies on source conditions and specialist support explicit. For dispensing-only equipment, identify who remains responsible for the incoming supply.
